Did you know, that 2013 will be dominated by third person action games? it seems FPS has lost their fame in this year. Just look at the upcoming games like Watch Dogs
Parkour element seems to be the reason why the third person games booming well this and next year (you can thank the assassins for that). As you can see, many of todays 3rd person action games implemented parkour elements in their gameplay.
Zombies also have becoming not only in the American's horror movies, but also become the most famous element in DLCs today (just look at Sniper Elite V2 DLC and Sleeping Dogs DLC, you'll understand).
However, RPG games stand still with the idea of MMO at the throne of online games. Maybe in the later years, 3rd person action games will take the throne (Although it's nearly impossible because mostly, third person games will ended up becoming suck in terms of multiplayer. And for your information, what made games looked bad and looked good are their players).
But you may see a lot of third person action games are hitting the shelf this year and another years in advance.
